Qualified candidates must possess strong knowledge of the front office, medical terminology, communication skills, organizational skills, and a patient-focused attitude.</span></p><p><b><u><span>Duties and Responsibilities:</span></u></b></p><ul type="disc"> <li><span>Reviews and prepares medical records to ensure completeness prior to patient exam, obtaining missing documentation. Documents clinic visit, observations, and related activities. &nbsp;</span></li> <li><span>Assists with initiation of patient history and physical assessment. Assist physicians with physical exams and simple in-house procedures.</span></li> <li><span>Checks patient vital signs and takes body measurements, documenting results in patient chart.</span></li> <li><span>Prepares and maintains exam and treatment rooms, cleaning after patient discharges to ensure a clean and sanitized environment.</span></li> <li><span>Maintains supplies inventory and ensures patient care equipment is clean and properly functioning, reporting defective equipment and supplies to supervisor.</span></li> <li><span>Collects specimens and prepares them for lab and performs urinalysis on urine specimens. Prepares lab results for physicians to sign.</span></li> <li><span>Administers breathing treatments, injections, performs EKGs, debridement, applying appropriate dressings, etc.</span></li> <li><span>Answers phone calls, relaying patient requests and questions to appropriate individuals. Explains provider instructions to patient, as appropriate. The Medical Assistant is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
